World Cup 2022: Be patient with GFA – Black Stars winger Osman Bukari to Ghanaians after early exit

Published on: 12 December 2022

Black Stars winger Osman Bukari has called on Ghanaians to exercise patience for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following Ghana’s early exit at the 2022 World Cup.

The Black Stars were eliminated after the first round of the tournament following a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay.

After defeating South Korea in their second group game, the Black Stars needed a draw or win against Uruguay to advance to the last 16 stage.

But the team failed to negotiate for points against their ‘enemies’ Uruguay.

Ghana made a strong start to the game, but fell apart after captain Andre Ayew missed a penalty in the 21st minute, a repeat of what happened in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Speaking to BYT Sports TV, the Red Star Belgrade star expressed the domestic football governing body are on the right path in building the Black Stars and has therefore asked Ghanaians to have patience.

“For now everything is going on well just that we have to build the team and I think that is exactly what they are doing. I will plead with Ghanaians to exercise patience for our leaders. Everything will be fine, there is always light at the end of the tunnel so I hope we will all enjoy later”

The Black Stars will now shift attention to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set to begin in earnest.

The four-time African champions sit top of Group D with four points from the first two games of the qualifiers.
