World Cup 2022: We were very effective against South Korea - Ghana coach Otto Addo

Ghana head coach Otto Addo paid tribute to his attackers for been effective against South Korea in their 3-2 win at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Black Stars took a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Mohammed Salisu and Kudus but two stunning headers in three minutes from Cho Gue-sung levelled the game after 61 minutes.

Kudus added a final twist when he thumped in a third for Ghana to break South Korea's hearts.

"It was a tough match. South Korea started really really well. The first 15 minutes, we really had problems. We didn't allow big big chance but we were little bit under pressure but then we recovered from it and we forced them with our playing style and from that we credit two goals. One was a corner and the other was out of play," coach Addo told ghanafa.org.

"We were very effective and the problem was like you can see football is mental game. The moment we got the 2-1 it was a little bit hectic. They were also coming more, risking more and the small counter attacks we had we couldn't use them and then we got the equaliser.

"So it was a very very tough match. Strong opponent but at the end it was a mental game and we won it. We stayed calm and we made the 3rd goal, very very good combination and a good finish from Kudus. Yeah I'm very happy for it."

Black Stars are currently second in Group H and will take on Uruguay in their final group game. A win or draw will see Ghana through to the last 16 of the competition.

Ghana are the third African country after Senegal and Morocco to secure a win in the second round of matches in the tournament.
