Zidane delighted with Liverpool in fighting off Barcelona Coutinho bid

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is delighted with the news that Liverpool have seen off Barcelona's attempts for Philippe Coutinho.

Sources on Merseyside and in Barcelona admit the Catalans are now pursuing other targets after Liverpool rejected their last bid of £118m for the Brazil international.

Diario Sport says Zidane is pleased with the news as he rates Coutinho highly and is convinced he would've improved substantially Barca's midfield this season.

The Frenchman is also happy because talk of Liverpool moving for Mateo Kovacic as a potential replacement will now die down.

Zidane has spoken at length with Kovacic this summer, urging him to drop plans of leaving before next week's transfer deadline.
