Aduana Stars supporters not happy with GFA over home venue ban

Published on: 05 April 2023

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been facing criticism from supporters of Aduana Stars after the association imposed a ban on the team's home venue.

The decision, which came as a punishment for alleged misconduct by the team's supporters during a recent match with Tamale City, has sparked outrage among Aduana Stars fans who feel that the ban is unjustified and unfair. The supporters also claim the GFA doesn't want the club to win the Ghana Premier League.

The issue has led to a heated debate among football fans, with some calling for the GFA to reconsider its decision and others backing the association's stance on maintaining discipline and order in the sport.

GFA's statement on the home venue ban reads:

"This decision has become necessary due to the unfortunate incidents that occurred after the Match day 25 between Aduana FC and Tamale City FC (outside the park) played on April 2, 2023.

The decision is in accordance with the GFA Premier League Regulations Article 14(2) which states inter alia “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre where the safety of clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed.”’

The Competitions Department is therefore advised to determine the venue for the Club’s subsequent home matches in accordance with Article 14(3) Premier League Regulations,"

Aduana Stars will play Accra Great Olympics in their next Ghana Premier League game.
