Head Coach for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Gernot Rohr has revealed that the aim of his team after missing out on the finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament is to win the third place.

The team was hard done by a sumptuous last-minute free-kick from Riyad Mahrez in the semi-finals which resulted in Algeria winning the tie 2-1 to advance into the grand finale.

Having ensured the painful loss, the team is set to take to the field later tonight to go head to head with Tunisia who also lost to Senegal 1-0 in the other semi-final encounter.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of the third-place match, Coach Gernot Rohr has noted that the target of his team is to emerge as winners at the end of the day to have something to go home with.

“A goal in the last minute from the free-kick is very difficult to take. We watched the match and we performed very well in front of a great team. Now we target the third place”, the German tactician said.

The match will be played at the Al Salam Stadium with kick-off time slated for 19:00GMT.
