ANCELOTTI EYEING EUROPA LEAGUE RUN

Carlo Ancelotti underlined Napoli's ambition to win the Europa League as he prepares to make his bow in the competition against Zurich on Thursday.

"Tomorrow is the start of new adventure for us and we're very keen to do well in the Europa League,” the coach said at a media conference in Switzerland on the eve of the game. It won't be easy to go all the way because it's a very difficult tournament and there are lots of great teams in it, but we want to show we're capable of having our say over the coming months – starting tomorrow."

Ancelotti then addressed claims that Napoli have suffered a downturn in form lately: "Our form hasn't dropped off. We may have had a few not so good results but performance-wise we've been doing well.  If we'd won a few more games playing badly, I expect everyone would have been happier but not me. It's my job to look at how well we play and I'm happy with it."

Do you still have a sense of regret about your Champions League exit?

“No, because we did the best we could. Yesterday we saw PSG beat Manchester United despite their absences. We were in a very tough group and we did well to stay in the mix to qualify right down to the wire.”
