Asamoah Gyan's wish to return to Black Stars must be thrown out - Alhaji Grusah

Owner and bankroller of King Faisal, Alhaji Abdul Karim Grusah has insisted that Asamoah Gyan's desire to return to the Black Stars must not be accepted.

Gyan earlier in the week speaking to the BBC expressed his desire to feature at the 2022 World Cup in November.

The 37-year-old who last played for the Black Stars three years ago desire has been questioned by several football enthusiasts in the country.

And according to Grusah, Gyan is done with football due to fitness and should rather be included in the squad as an advisor, especially to the young players in the team.

"Personally, I don’t support him, or let’s make him an advisor. After Legon Cities, I know he has begun his coaching badges. I don’t agree with him. This is my opinion. He is the same person who said the penalty against South Africa was soft and now he wants to play," he told Accra-based Happy FM.

“He played for Legon Cities and we saw it. If the coach thinks, he would be of help to him, that’s fine. If the coach thinks he wants Asamoah Gyan, I will support him 100 percent. For me, I don’t support it. He should play and let us see before the world cup. In my opinion, he needs to justify.

“I don’t support his decision to play for the Black Stars at the World Cup. He should rather join the team as an ambassador or advisor," he added.

Ghana have been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.

Asamoah Gyan remains Ghana and Africa's all-time top scorer at the Mundial with five goals.
