Asante Kotoko are going to "tarnish" their reputation in Africa - Rev. Osei Kofi warns

Former Ghana international Rev.Osei Kofi has warned Asante Kotoko not to participate in Africa next season because they are going to "tarnish" their reputation.

The Porcupine Warriors will be representing Ghana in next season's Caf Champions League after the 2019/20 football season was cancelled by the Ghana Football Association due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Osei, the club is not well prepared for the continental showpiece and believes they are just going to waste money and tarnish their image.

"Where is the strength to compete in Africa? They are just going to waste money. I think they just want to squander money," he said on Boss FM in Kumasi.

"The Ghana Premier League was in a good shape the last time Kotoko won a continental trophy so tell me how they are going to perform better with this current form.

"It is not advisable to compete in Africa with the current state of football.

"They are just going to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of the club on the continental stage."

Kotoko have failed to win any silverware at the continental level since clinching the Africa Champions Cup in 1970 and 1983.
