Asante Kotoko in debt close to GHS4 million

Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko are hugely indebted at the end of the 2023/24 football season.

At a meeting between the Life Patron of Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II as well as legends of the club and executives of the National Circles Council on Friday, it was disclosed that the club has a debt of GHS3,533,424.

The club also owes its former Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Nana Yaw Amponsah some unpaid salary.

In the current state of the debt, Asante Kotoko will need around GHS5 to settle its debts and recruit new players for the upcoming football season.

At the meeting at Manhyia today, the legends of Asante Kotoko and members of the National Circles Council expressed appreciation to Otumfuo for the audience and pledged to continue supporting the club.

Before the start of the new football season, a new board and management team will be formed to steer the affairs of the club.

Meanwhile, Otumfuo has tasked former Black Stars head coach James Kwesi Appiah to find a new coach for Asante Kotoko.
