Auxerre manager Christophe Pélissier praises Elisha Owusu after impressive debut

Auxerre manager Christophe Pélissier was impressed with Elisha Owusu’s performance in his competitive debut for the club.

The Black Stars midfielder was started his first start against Chamois Niortais after joining the club in the ongoing transfer window.

Owusu boxed the midfield as Auxerre cruised to an emphatic 4-0 away win over their opponent to progress to the Round of 16 of the Coup de France on Sunday.

He lasted 71 minutes in the encounter as Auxerre secured qualification to the next stage of the competition.

Goals from Matthis Abline, Gaëtan Perrin, Nuno Da Costa and Gaëtan Perrin was enough for the Ligue 1 side to triumph over Niort.

"Elisha Owusu showed why we had taken him." I really liked his state of mind." Christophe Pélissier said after the game.

The 25-year-old joined the Ligue 1 outfit last Monday on a two and half year deal from Gent, ending his three-year spell with the Belgian side.
