Borussia Dortmund Insist Liverpool Are Wasting Their Time Pursuing Wonderkid

Liverpool have been told by Borussia Dortmund thatany attempt to sign wonderkid Christian Pulisic would be futile, after new reportssurfaced in theMail on Tuesday.

The German club are reportedly unwilling to entertain the idea of letting Pulisic leave the Westfalenstadion for anything less than £25m. That valuation comes after Liverpool were understood to have had an £11.1m bid rejected for the teen in the summer, and would suggest that the two parties are milesapart.

BVB sporting director Michael Zorc was rather dismissive in his response to the fresh speculation linking the English side to the player, telling Bild: "It's not worth the effort for Liverpool."

Pulisic, already aUS international, was thought to be concerned about his prospects under manager Thomas Tuchel at the start of the season, but has been highly involved with the first-team, making 14 competitive appearances scoring two goals and making six assists.

The youngster was brought to Dortmund in 2015 when current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was in charge. And with star man Philippe Coutinho out of action for the next six weeks, it is perhaps unsurprising to see him linked with the young talent again.

Dortmund will no doubt endeavour to keep hold of their prized asset, having sold a number of high profile players in the last few seasons, including Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze (who they later re-signed), Mats Hummels, Henrikh Mkhitaryanand Ilkay Gundogan.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been the only bigsuccess story in recent years on that front, signing a new deal in 2015 to extend his contract through to 2020. The Germans will be hoping Pulisic will follow in his footsteps, with old heroKlopp waiting in the wings to strike.
