BREAKING NEWS: Ghana Premier League week 24 games to be played on Saturday

Published on: 09 August 2016

Spokesperson for the Premier League Board, Tamimu Issah has revealed that all the seven Ghana Premier League matches originally scheduled to come off on Sunday August 14th have now been shifted to a before.

He said the decision was taken due to Medeama SC’s commitment in the CAF Confederations Cup that is scheduled to be played this Sunday at the Essipong stadium against group favourites TP Mazembe.

“We took the decision due Medeama SC’s game against TP Mazembe. They will need the support of the whole country in that game and therefore we decided to play the league a day earlier.”

“I think it’s a move in the right direction to help boost their morale on Sunday because on when there’s no league match on Sunday, people would like to go and support them and we as the custodians of the league have to protect our teams especially in African competitions.”

Tamimu was the asked if the same decision has been taken by the Division One League board; he replied that, “No. We are yet to meet on that, but I cannot confirm that now unless we meet and arrive at a final decision.” He told Happy FM.

Medeama SC will have to beat group A opponents TP Mazembe, who many believe to be the favourites on Sunday to boost their chances of qualifying to the semifinal stage of this season’s CAF Confederations Cup after picking 5 points from a possible 15.
