Kumasi Asante Kotoko has defeated FC San Pedro 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium this afternoon in the first leg of the final playoff round to the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The match was initially played on Sunday but could not come to its conclusive end following a heavy downpour in Kumasi.

Pecked at 0-0 at the end of half-time before the game was called-off, the match officials rescheduled the game to today for the second half to be played per the rules of CAF regarding the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors got on the scoresheet on the 64th minute when Richard Arthur found the back of the net. Unfortunately for the home side, it was ruled out for offside.

In the final 20 minutes of the game, Coach Kjetil Zachariassen replaced defender Patrick Yeboah with attacker Kelvin Andoh in a bid to get more men upfront as they searched for an equalizer.

Having exhausted the 90 minutes, danger man Sogne Yacouba was brought down in FC San Pedro’s 18-yard box which earned the host a penalty kick.

Striker Naby Keita stepped up and calmly converted to hand the Kumasi-based side a narrow win to take into the second leg which will be played next weekend in Cote d'Ivoire.
