The Confederation of African Football has come to a decision to expand the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament from 8 to 12 countries.
The continental showpiece for women which comes off every two years had previously only seen 8 countries battling for ultimate glory until now.
Following a CAF Executive Committee meeting, they have arrived at a decision to expand it to 12 countries to allow four more slots that will make the tournament more fierce and entertaining.
The news has been confirmed by CAF President Ahmad Ahmad in a post on his official Twitter page.
