On Tuesday evening, Bayer Leverkusen defeated Atlético Madrid 2-0 in the Champions League. The goals did not come until the final stage after coach Gerardo Seoane changed his tactics.

Jeremie Frimpong, who replaced Adam Hlozek in the 79th minute, provided a breath of fresh air. Callum Hudson-Odoi was first moved to the center, while Frimpong was moved to the right.

Bayer Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane stated after the game that Odoi's versatility made his crucial changes work.

“In general, we are always a bit right-leaning in our game. We just tried to introduce this variation because Callum is very secure with the ball between the lines. He gave decisive impetus in this position,” explained Seoane.

The coach added that the balance of the tactical modification was positive and it gives him more options.

"That's also an option for the future," he added.

"I'm glad he has this variability and of course also that Moussa Diaby finishes a little better on the left side with his left foot. That's why we wanted to bring these two variants in a bit. A lot of things then arise instinctively from the player. He did well today,”
