Charlton Athletic manager Ben Garner has lauded Ghanaian youngster Jesurun Rak-Sakyi following his impressive display against Plymouth Argyle in the Sky Bet League One on Wednesday evening.

The 19-year-old made an instant impact on his Charlton debut as they cruised to an impressive 5-1 victory at The Valley.

Rak-Sakyi, who is on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace, finished from close range after Argyle keeper Michael Cooper could only parry Jayden Stockley's header after 11 minutes.

"I think young Jez, for his debut here in League One – what a performance," Garner said after the game.

"He’s a really talented lad. He’s so level headed and calm, it was difficult to judge before the game whether he was nervous, whether he was excited, he’s just very level headed and he just takes it in his stride.

"I think we’ve seen a glimpse tonight of what he can do."

He added, "I think the really pleasing thing is that we made some changes."

"It showed that the players can come in and maintain the same level and the same quality which is going to be really important for us this season."
