It has been revealed newly appointed Ghana head coach Chris Hughton has not signed his contract officially to take charge of the Black Stars.

Per Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, the contract of the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss is currently at the Attorney General's office for advice on legalities.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced he was the new Ghana coach to replace Otto Addo early in February but he doesn't have a contract yet with the FA.

"The contract is currently with the Attorney General," Muftawu said on Joy FM.

"They expect the attorney general to give the contract back to the ministry and it will then go back to the Ghana Football Association where the two parties will would sign an agreement."

The former Ireland international is set to be unveiled on March 20 in Kumasi, according to the GFA.

Chris Hughton has already announced his first Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) games against Angola later this month.

The first leg is due to be played on March 23 at Baba Yara Sports Stadium while the reverse fixture is in Luanda on March 27.
