Sports journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai has disclosed Chris Hughton was not happy the Ghana Football Association (GFA) put a one-year contract on the table after initially offering him a three-year deal.

The Ghana Football Association announced the appointment of the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager early in February without giving details about the contract.

Muftawu said the GFA went back on their initial gentleman agreement of a three-year contract and now offering the coach a one-year deal, which he was not happy about.

He, however, did not mention what contract length the GFA and the former Ireland international are dealing with.

"The Ghana Football Association offered Chris Hughton a one-year contract, and he was not happy with that," Muftawu Nabila Abdulai said on Joy FM.

"One of the reasons Chris Hughton was disappointed about the one-year contract was because initial discussions were for three years," he added.
