CK Akonnor has the qualities to manage the senior national team, the Black Stars but needs our support to succeed, Yaw Preko believes.

The former Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC gaffer was appointed as the coach for the team in 2020, replacing Kwesi Appiah on a two-year deal.

The 47-year-old has, however, has under intense pressure due to his style of play.

However, Preko, who is a former Medeama SC and Inter Allies gaffer believes Akonnor is a top-class coach and competent enough to manage the Black Stars but will need the support and backing of the entire country to succeed.

“He [CK Akonnor] is a fine coach and I think he has what it takes to coach the Black Stars,” he told Asempa FM.

“He needs the support of the entire country to succeed because he is the person in charge of the team.

“CK Akonnor has proven he can coach the team because if you look at his style of play, it tells you he wants to implement something and I think with the support and belief, he can do it for us,” Preko, a former Black Stars winger added.
