Dismayed Jose Mourinho Looking to Overhaul 'All First Team Affairs' as United Nightmare Continues

Published on: 09 November 2016

Jose Mourinho is said to be conducting a thorough investigation into 'all aspects' of Manchester United's first team affairs, as the Portuguese manager watches his dream job turn into a nightmare after just a handful of months.

BBC Sportreport that the United boss is 'dismayed' at the state of the task left for him at Old Trafford, with the club's medical staff particularly drawing his ire as he begins his ritualistic deflections while on-pitch results elude him.

Mourinho's flying start to the season has stuttered and stalled since the opening weeks of the campaign, with United falling to eight points behind leaders Liverpool and struggling in Europe - with defeats away to Feyenoord and Fenerbahce keeping the team from gaining any kind of momentum.

It's expected that the 53-year-old will dive deep into every part of the club's backroom planning, with the club's disastrouspre-season tour coming in for renewed scrutiny after a game against Manchester City was cancelled, and plans went awry at almost every turn.

The club's medical staff are also believed to be under the microscope, while the focus on the backroom is unlikely to lighten the pressure on Mourinho's players.

Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling came in for particular criticism over the weekend, but the pair are far from the first to be publicly criticised by their manager in his short time at the club.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan's struggles were dragged into the light in recent weeks, while Bastian Schweinsteiger's banishment from the first-team squad left nobody under any illusions as to his status in Mourinho's regime.
