Former Ghana goalie Richard Kingston confident Black Stars can win AFCON 2023

Former Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingston is confident the Black Stars can win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations title.

Ghana has failed to annex the continental title for about three decades. The last time the West African powerhouse clinched the title was in 1982.

The Black Stars have come close to ending the trophy drought in the last decade, 2010 Angola losing to Egypt in the finals and in 2015 Equatorial Guinea- Gabon as the Stars lost to Ivory Coast on penalty shootout.

“I will tell Ghanaians to exercise patience and support the team. Yes, everyone has his choice of players but we must all support those the coaches will select”

“I am a man of faith and I know we are going to qualify for the next Afcon and also looking forward that Ghana wins the trophy. For the qualification, I know we will secure it but I'm also thinking about winning the Afcon and bringing the Cup home. We have to work towards it and surely with faith Ghana will win it” he told Akoma FM in Kumasi.

Ghana will take on Angola in a doubleheader in the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the 2023 AFCON tournament has been postponed to January 2024 in Ivory Coast.
