Former Premier League referee Paul Alcock dies

Paul Alcock was a Premier League referee between 1995 and 2000.

Former Premier League referee Paul Alcock has died at the age of 64, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited has announced.

Alcock, who took charge of 94 Premier League games between 1995 and 2000, was best known for the moment when he was pushed to the floor by Sheffield Wednesday's Paolo Di Canio in 1998.

"We knew that Paul had been ill for some time, but we are extremely saddened to hear of his passing," Mike Riley, PGMOL managing director, said in a statement.
