Ghana to pitch camp in Kenya ahead of Uganda clash

Published on: 27 September 2017

The Black Stars of Ghana will pitch camp in the East African nation of Kenya as they prepare for the penultimate world cup qualifier against Uganda in Kampala.

Coach Kwesi Appiah has invited 26 players to camp for the game, with WAFU stars Isaac Twum and Vincent Atinga making the list.

The local based players are expected to make the trip to Kenya.

Meanwhile, the squad has six debutants. Kingsley Sarfo of Swedish side Malmo after prolonged battle to get him play for Ghana finally decided to honour an invite. Abass Mohammed of Harrison Islanders and Kassim Adams of Young Boys join the local duo.

Daniel Opare of Augsburg and FC Astana striker Patrick Twumasi are all returning to the team.

Ghana are third in Group E of the World Cup qualifiers with 5 points and the chances of another mundial looks slim.

However a win in Kampala and a defeat for Egypt against Congo will give the Black Stars hope.
