Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante nets as West Brom lose to Birmingham City

Ghanaian striker Brandon Thomas-Asante was on target for West Brom in their 3-2 home defeat to Birmingham City in the English Championship on Wednesday night.

The 23-year-old climbed off the bench to replace Okay Yokuslu in 60th minute of the game and scored for the Baggies but it was not enough as Birmingham City secured their first victory at The Hawthorns in 18 years.

Juninho Bacuna's defence-splitting pass teed up Hogan to fire Blues ahead before Jed Wallace ran on to Jayson Molumby's through-ball and slipped the ball past John Ruddy to level.

Hogan smacked a shot in off the post from another fine Bacuna assist to restore their lead and then toe-poked his third from an acute angle through the legs of goalkeeper David Button.

Thomas-Asante's penalty gave the Baggies late hope after he was brought down by Dion Sanderson, but Blues held on for back-to-back wins.

Steve Bruce’s side are next in action this Saturday away to Norwich City.

Thomas-Asante has scored two goals in two games for West Brom in the Championship this season.
