Ghana’s Black Queens in contention for CAF Team of the Year award

The Black Queens of Ghana are in contention for the CAF Team of the Year prize after bagging nomination from the continental football governing body.

The senior women’s national team has had a descent year under Swiss trainer Nora Hauptle, who has guided the team to an unbeaten streak.

The Black Queens will face competition from Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa and Morocco, who were at the 2023 Women's World Cup.

Other teams also in contention for the award are Burkina Faso, Malawi, Burundi and Senegal.

The awards ceremony will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, in the city of Marrakesh, Morocco.

The Black Queens are in contention to secure qualification to both the Olympic Games and Women’s AFCON tournament.

Ghana are in the third round of the Olympic Games qualifiers whiles qualification to next year's Women's Africa Cup of Nations remains on course.

The team missed the 2022 WAFCON and the FIFA Women's World Cup.
