Ghana striker Jordan Ayew says he is focused on playing well for Aston Villa in the English Championship despite talks of an imminent move away from the Villa Park. Jordan who joined Villa last summer from French Ligue 1 outfit Lorient has had many suitors following an excellent debut season in the English Premier League.

The man who emerged as the club;s top scorer with seven goals was in action as Roberto Di Matteo's men suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in their English Championship league opener on Sunday.

"There were positive signs," Ayew told his club's official website.

"We spoke to each other at half-time about how to improve and the need to play with confidence.

"I think everyone saw in the second half there was an improvement.

"If we keep playing the way we did in the second half in the future, then I’m sure we’ll win games."

Swansea, West Ham, Southampton and French clubs Saint Etienne and Nice are reportedly monitoring the 24-year-old.
