Ghanaian players in the Major League Soccer and their clubs have been handed tricky groups in next month’s ‘MLS is Back’ tournament.

The competition which replaces the regular MLS has 26 teams grouped into six, with Group A having six teams and the rest containing four clubs each.

Former Dreams FC captain, Leonard Owusu’s Vancouver Whitecaps are in group B together with Seattle Sounders, Francis Atuahene’s FC Dallas and San Jose Earthquakes.

Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful’s Columbus Crew are in group E alongside Atlanta United.

The top two finishers in each group along with the four best 3rd-place teams will move on to the Knockout stage which kicks off with the Round of 16.

Teams will be playing for regular-season points in the group stage, while there is also a CONCACAF Champions League berth and $1.1 million in prize money on the line.
