Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has paid tribute to late dancehall artist Rudeboy Ranking after coming off the bench to score the winning goal for Anderlecht against Royal Antwerp.

The musician died in April 2023 after a brief spell with illness. Ashimeru and Rudeboy grew up in Nima.

To mark one year of his passing, the Black Stars midfielder remembered his friend after scoring an important goal and took to social media to share a message.

The dynamic player needed only five minutes to register his name on the scoresheet after replacing Mario Stroeykens in the 74th minute.

Ashimeru, who missed most of last season due to injury, is enjoying a great start to the campaign with back-to-back victories for the Purple and White.

The 26-year-old started the league opener against STVV last week before stealing the show as a second-half substitute on Sunday.

Anderlecht got off to a bright start after Senne Lammens netted an own goal before the hosts levelled later in the first half through former Tottenham defender Tobi Alderweireld.

Ashimeru then smashed home the winner with ten minutes remaining.
