Karela United player Ganiu Mohammed says his outfit position on the Ghana Premier League motivated them to beat Asante Kotoko in matchday 20.

The Porcupine Warriors succumbed to a narrow defeat to Karela United at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex last Friday.

It was Kotoko’s back to back away defeats since the resumption of the Ghana Premier League.

The first half of the game ended in a pulsating goalless draw, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net.

Putting on a stellar performance, Karela United prevailed with a 1-0 win courtesy, Giyasu Ibrahim’s goal in the 60th minute mark.

After the game, Ganiu, who emerged as the man of the match asserted their position on the league table motivated the team to beat Kotoko.

“It was a difficult game in the sense that we were not getting the goals. In football, anything can happen but we were determined to win the game. our position alone motivated us to win this match and we did our best and won” he said.

Karela United are 15th on the Ghana Premier League table with 23 points after 20 matches so far this season.
