Portuguese side Rio Ave confirm signing of Ghana forward Emmanuel Boateng

Portuguese Primeira Liga side Rio Ave have signed Ghana striker Emmanuel Boateng in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Boateng joins the club on a two-year deal after leaving Chinese Super League side Daliang Yifang.

The 26-year-old makes a return to the club he first joined as a teenager in 2014 after impressing on a trial from Ghanaian side Charity Stars FC. He spent a year at the club before moving to Moreirense.

He made headlines in 2018 after he scored first career hat-trick against Barcelona. Levante won the match 5-4, ending the possibility of an unbeaten season for Barcelona in the Spanish LaLiga.

Boateng then made a big money move to China where he scored 11 goals in 37 appearances during his three-year stay at Daliang Yifang.

He was part of the Ghana national under-20 football team, who played the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand. He scored one goal in the competition on 5th June 2015, in a 1–0 win against Panama.

On 30 May 2018, he made his senior appearance for the Black Stars. He marked his debut with a goal when he scored a penalty in the 51st minute of the game.
