President Akufo-Addo rallies support for Black Queens ahead of reverse fixture against Copper Queens

The President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is calling for support for the Black Queens to beat the Copper Queens of Zambia on Wednesday, February 28.

The Black Queens will take on the Copper Queens tomorrow in a second-leg encounter of the third round of the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

After losing 1-0 to the Copper Queens last week in Ghana, the Black Queens are in Zambia and hoping to turn things around in the second leg.

Addressing the nation today, President Akufo-Addo has rallied Ghanaians to support the Black Queens to secure a win tomorrow.

“Mr. Speaker, the senior Women’s team the Black Queens who do not get half the attention the Black Stars get, have been performing quite creditably. They had gone for ten (10) matches without any loss until last December’s when they lost narrowly to Namibia in Windhoek in the final qualifying round for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

“Even though they lost narrowly to Zambia in the first leg of the qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games, let us wish them well in the second leg to be played in Lusaka tomorrow, and hope they give us something to cheer about,” President Akufo-Addo said.

Ahead of the big game between Zambia and Ghana tomorrow, Black Queens coach Nora Hauptle is confident her team can secure the much-needed win.
