Sarri pleased with Chelsea control

Maurizio Sarri said he was pleased with the way his team overcame a tricky start to beat Burnley and continue their fine start to the season.

Chelsea beat the Clarets 4-0 at Turf Moor to go second in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Liverpool.

Key man Eden Hazard missed the game with a back injury but Sarri's team shrugged off his absence with a controlled performance.

We played very well in full control of the match for the last 80 minutes.

Burnley shaded the opening exchanges but the visitors were soon on top and Alvaro Morato gave them the lead after twenty minutes.

Just before the hour mark they doubled their lead with an excellent shot from distance by the in-form Ross Barkley.

The England midfielder, who had a hand in the first goal, was again provider for the third, Willian scoring to make the game safe and Ruben Loftus-Cheek added a fourth in added time to add to the hat-trick he scored in the Europa League in midweek.

Sarri spoke afterwards of his pleasure at seeing two in particular on the scoresheet, though he was disappointed that Olivier Giroud wasn't among them.

He said: "For 10 minutes it was difficult at the beginning but then we played very well. I am very happy for Alvaro Morata and Loftus-Cheek again. I am disappointed for Giroud because today I thought he could score.

"He needs to score. At the end, everything is OK. We played very well in full control of the match for the last 80 minutes.

"At the moment we have to start to think about the next match. We play on Wednesday and we have a difficult game, we want to go on in the competition."

Chelsea are in EFL Cup action in midweek, playing Championship side Derby County in the fourth round, Rams manager Frank Lampard making a return to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are 1/4 to progress through to the fifth round while Derby are 10/1. Chelsea are 11/2 to win the game 2-0 while Barkley is 8/1 to score the first goal.

Chelsea are 4/1 to win the EFL Cup this season.
