Sergio Ramos has managed to save himself from disciplinary action, by refusing to comment on referee Clos Gomez's performance in El Clasico.

Ramos, who scored Real Madrid's equaliser in the game at the weekend, was being interviewed bySportaheadof his side's Champions League clash against Dortmund this week.

Ramos, who is no stranger to a strop or a moan about a ref said: "The referee at Camp Nou? I could say a lot of things after watching the game back a couple of times, but it wouldn't change anything. I'm going to keep out of it because I don't want to give headlines."

The Madrid skipper wasn't finished there, adding:"They don't usually re-use referees (in Clasico). I have a lot of respect for the referees, they're people and they can make mistakes. I find it difficult to believe that they make mistakes [on purpose]. Continuing the stirring is not going to lead anywhere now.

Ramos insists that he and his teammates shouldn't be happy with the result:"The other day (the Camp Nou draw) is not about boasting but about continuing to work hard because there's a long way to go."

Madrid are currently top of La Liga, six points clear of Barcelona, and are yet to lose a league game this year.

They have, however, recently lost the services of Gareth Bale for four months. Whether that will stop the high-flying Los Blancos remains to be seen. Though one thing that is for certain Madrid's defence are going to take some beating.
