Spurs pair Dier, Eriksen admit Arsenal caught them flat footed

Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier concedes they were slow out of the blocks for defeat at Arsenal on Saturday.

Spurs conceded twice before halftime to lose the North London derby 2-0.

Dier remarked: "It was difficult to get going out there. We didn't look too fluid compared to the way we can play. We know we can do so much better than that. When their goal came it was a bit of a sucker punch and to concede another before half-time was a bit sloppy and killed us.

"We were confident in ourselves coming here. We were up for a big game and ready for the challenge but we didn't put our best foot forward and that's the most disappointing thing."

Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen agreed things didn't fall for them on the day.

The Dane said: "It's a big hit for us. I went into the game feeling confident, feeling fit. It didn't go our way. We tried our best to come back and try to create something but they took their goals and it was tough after that. The last pass, the last shot, it just wasn't there today."

The Dane added: "We need to get back on track. There are so many games and it's about how we come back after this defeat. We have the mentality to do that."
