Ghana and Trelleborgs FF forward Abdul Fatawu Safiu has heaped praise on current Black Stars head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor.

The 46-year-old was replaced Kwesi Appiah as coach of the senior national team in January following the dissolution of the technical teams of the national teams.

Coach CK Akonnor was Appiah's assistant when Black Stars defeated South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which has been suspended due to coronvairus pandemic.

Fatawu, who worked with the former Ghana international at Asante Kotoko during the 2018-2019 season says he was not surprised by his appointment because he is a very good and very discipline.

"I am not surprised he is the coach of the Black Stars. CK (Akonnor) is a very good coach and very discipline and I don’t think if you are not doing a good thing he is going to give you the chance to play but if you are doing the right thing he’d always motivate you to do it and even if you are doing it right he’d tell you that’s not enough."

"He always wants the best out of you so you can give him the results he want," he said.
