Burkina Faso triumphed over Cote d'Ivoire with a 3-1 victory to secure the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B Championship at the University of Ghana Stadium on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

With Ghana and Nigeria eliminated, both Burkina Faso and Cote d'Ivoire had already secured their spots in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) next year, as the WAFU Championship also served as the qualifiers for AFCON.

However, the two teams clashed to determine the zonal champions.

Burkina Faso took an early lead, but Cote d'Ivoire quickly equalized, leaving the score tied at 1-1 by halftime.

In the second half, Burkina Faso scored two more impressive goals to clinch a 3-1 win.

They reached the final by defeating Ghana’s Black Starlets 2-0 in the semi-final.

In the third-place playoff, Nigeria edged out Ghana 3-2 to claim the bronze medal earlier at the same venue.
