South Korea football team captain Son Heung-min has revealed he is happy to wear the mask and also lead the team at the 2022 World Cup.

Son Heung-min, who returned to practice three weeks after suffering a facial injury, played the entire first game of the 2022 Qatar World Cup Group H opener at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan on November 24 while using a black protective mask.

Although it was Son Heung-min's first game since the injury, Uruguay's defense was on guard, with two or three players around him whenever he grabbed the ball.

"It is a great honor to write a ( mask to play in the national team's uniform for the country even if it is uncomfortable," he said after the game.

"I might have done that because I didn't have any discomfort during the game due to the injury, but there was no fear,"

The game against Uruguay ended goalless and the Tottenham star admitted the result was fair.

"The players are in a very regrettable atmosphere. I think both teams had a good match and got a fair result,” he added.

"However Uruguay took the 3rd point, it was a game that we even took 3 points in my position,"

"I'm really grateful and proud of the players' regret for the situation,"

"I want to thank them for doing so well to them through this position. Thank you for jumping harder for me,"

The attacker also stated that his team has to take the chances they create.

"It's positive that we've made a chance against teams that are clearly stronger than us, but when the chance comes, finishing cooler will be the most important in the upcoming matches,"

"I think Ghana is a fairly strong team "We need to prepare more than we have. I have to fight more than today and play," he ended.
