Ozil signed for Arsenal in 2013 for £42.5m from Spanish giants Real Madrid and has been one of their top performers since joining. The assist king's deal expires at the end of next season and the Gunners are desperate to keep the German as Arsene Wenger looks to mount a title charge this season.

In recent seasons, bothThierry Henry and Cesc Fabregas have departed the Gunners for Barcelona, while Robin Van Persie left to join Manchester United - winning the Premier League in the following season, as well asfinishing top scorer - along with the countless others players being sold to Manchester City. Wenger, it seems, hasn't been great at keeping his star players.

Next up could be winger Alexis Sanchez, who has been linked with a move to Juventus recently and is yet tocommit his long-term future to the club. However, ifOzil signs it will be a massive statement of intentand could convince the Chilian to stay in London for the long-term as well.
