Former captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has revealed his ultimate starting eleven, featuring a blend of former teammates and admired players.

Notably, his selection omitted successors Andre Ayew and Laryea Kingston.

Gyan, celebrated for his goal-scoring prowess and on-field leadership, handpicked a robust lineup, anchored by his former colleague Richard Kingston in goal.

The defensive backbone comprised John Mensah and Samuel Osei Kuffuor at the heart, with John Paintsil and Hans Adu-Sarpei on the flanks.

In midfield, Gyan enlisted the likes of Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah for their commanding presence, complemented by Sulley Muntari and Yaw Preko on the wings.

The coveted number 10 spot was reserved for Ghanaian football icon Abedi Pele, while Gyan himself spearheaded the attack.

Absent from Gyan's selection were Andre Ayew, who holds the record for the most appearances in Black Stars history, and Laryea Kingston, renowned for his impactful performances on the wing during his playing days.

Gyan's storied career boasted 109 appearances for Ghana, with 51 goals to his name, making him the nation's all-time leading scorer.

He also clinched the title of Africa's top scorer in World Cup history, notching six goals across his World Cup campaigns.

Asamoah Gyan on June 2023 announced his retirement from active football.
