The head coach for the Black Stars of Ghana, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has noted that Bernard Mensah’s return to the team is an opportunity for him to fight for a regular spot.

The Besiktas new signing made his first appearance with his national team in 2015 in a game against Togo.

Unfortunately, he has been overlooked for call-ups in the last 4 years until today when Coach CK Akonnor named him as one of 23 players for a friendly game against Mali next month.

Speaking to the media team of the GFA, the coach has revealed that the quality of the player will benefit his Black Stars team in many ways.

“After he came to play, we didn’t see much of him but now he is proving himself good. He was once with a club and moved to Besiktas which tells all the story about him and I have seen him on several occasions and watched him closely. He is one of the guys when given the necessary chance and confidence can bring change into the way we move forward”, the tactician explained.

According to coach Akonnor, the latest invite is an opportunity for Bernard Mensah to fight to cement a place in the Black Stars team.

“His style of play and the way he controls the game, I personally want to control the game in terms of possession and him, Partey and the rest are there to do that job and it is a big chance for him to come, play do well and stay and not to go and come again”, the former Hearts of Oak coach concluded.
