Ghanaian midfielder John Yeboah named in Ecuador’s 26-man squad for 2024 Copa America

German-born Ghanaian midfielder John Yeboah has been named in Ecuador’s 26-man squad for the 2024 Copa America.

Yeboah, who was eligible to represent Ghana, Germany and Ecuador has opted to feature for the South American country. Born in Germany, his mum is from Ecuador while dad is a Ghanaian.

Despite representing Germany at youth levels, Yeboah has decided to play for Ecuador. He featured for Germany at the U16, U17, U18, U19, and U20 respectively.

The 23-year-old midfielder delivered an outstanding performance for his outfit Raków Częstochowa in Poland, earning him a place in the Ecuador squad for the Copa America championship. He earned his first invite to the Ecuador national team back in 2023.

Yeboah scored three goals and provided five assists in 30 appearances for Raków in the just ended campaign.

Ecuador have lined up three friendlies against Argentina, Bolivia, and Honduras ahead of the Copa America

They begin their Copa America campaign on June 22 against Venezuela, followed by matches against Jamaica on June 26 and Mexico on July 1.

Yeboah, who enjoyed an amazing campaign is expected to play a huge role for Ecuador at the Copa America.
