Gideon Mensah provides assist to help AJ Auxerre pick heavy win over Annecy

Ghana defender Gideon Mensah provided an assist as his club AJ Auxerre mauled Annecy FC 4-0 in round eight of the French Ligue Two.

The assist on Tuesday at the Stade de I’Abbe -Deschamps was the left-back’s first of the season.

Thomas Callens scored an own goal 21 minutes into the game to give AJ Auxerre the lead.

Ghana left-back Gideon Mensah then set up Florian Aye to double the lead for the home side in the 29th minute, with a comeback seemingly unlikely.

Mensah’s compatriot Elisha Owusu was taken off after 75 minutes for Assane Diousse to replace in.

Gaetan Perrin then made it 3-0 for AJ Auxerre in the 85th minute with a Gauthier Hein.

Rayan Ravelosen wrapped up the match with the fourth goal in the 87th minute from another Gauthier Hein assist.

With the win, AJ Auxerre are now third on the French Ligue 2 table with 15 points from eight matches while Annecy are 11th with 10 points.
