Accra Great Olympics Chief Executive Officer [CEO], Oluboi Commodore has said Gladson Awako's contract with Hearts of Oak has been terminated after the Phobians failed to stick to the agreement of the contract.

Awako, 30, joined the Ghana Premier League champions on a two-year deal before the start of their Africa campaign.

Revealing the reason behind the new development, Oluboi reiterated that Hearts of Oak agreed to pay Gladson Awako’s transfer fee in two instalments adding that the first instalment was on the 13th of September and the second was to be paid on October 2.

However, the Phobians have failed to pay the second instalment of the agreement.

According to him, it was highlighted that should Hearts of Oak fail to pay the second trench of the money by October 2, the contract will be annuled.

He added that Gladson Awako will now return to the Great Olympics, who are two times Ghana Premier League champions.

“We had an agreement with Hearts of Oak and they wanted to pay 50 per cent. The first instalment was paid on the 13th September," he revealed on Accra based Happy FM.

“The second instalment was to be paid on October 2. In the agreement, it was said if they fail to pay the money the agreement is nullified or terminated which was signed by Vincent Sowah Odotei

“He [Gladson Awako] is currently Great Olympics player and must return to us now. Any amount paid is not refundable.

Oluboi explained that this agreement was signed because of an experience with Hearts of Oak concerning the transfer.

“We were demanding all the amount from Hearts of Oak before we release the player because we knew this would happen.

“From 2 October there is no more agreement with Hearts of Oak. He still has a contract with Great Olympics till 22 October.

“It is in his contract that if he doesn’t go abroad he will sign for Olympics," he added.

Hearts of Oak according to media reports agreed to pay an amount of $15,000 for the services of the attacking midfielder.

Awako has not featured for the Phobians despite their participation in the Caf Champions League.

Awako excelled last season with seven goals and six assists as Olympics finished in a respectable 6th position.
