Here's why Chris Hughton's contract is sent to Attorney General's office

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken a proactive approach to avoid potential legal complications with new coach Chris Hughton by sending his contract to the Attorney General's office for legal advice.

The move is aimed at preventing any future disputes over unpaid salaries or bonuses.

In recent years, the GFA has faced numerous challenges from coaches who have threatened legal action over non-payment of their salaries or bonuses.

The Sports Ministry and the government are therefore taking early precautions to ensure that this does not happen with Hughton.

Hughton was announced as the new Ghana coach in February, following the departure of Otto Addo. However, he has not yet signed a contract with the FA.

According to Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, the GFA drafted a contract for Hughton, but sent it to the Attorney General's office for advice before it can be signed by both parties.

On Joy FM, Muftawu said, "The contract was forwarded to the attorney general because over the years, contracts between the Ghana Football Association and Black Stars coaches, we often get to a point where there are issues and then these coaches would rise and say that you we owe them money so we have to pay."

"This time around, when the GFA drafted the contract with Chris Hughton, it was sent to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

"They also intend forwarding it to the attorney general for advice before the contract is sent back to the parties to sign."
