I’m surprised our captain stamped a player to get a red card against Hearts of Oak – Nsoatreman GM

Nsoatreman FC general manager, Eric Aligidede, has expressed his surprise at what his captain, Philip Ofori, did to be sent off against Hearts of Oak.

The defender stamped a player and was shown a straight red card in the game as they suffered their first defeat of the season.

The centre back was sent off after only 34 minutes into the Ghana Premier League week two fixture against the Phobians on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Nsoatreman went on to play with ten men for the remainder of the game and lost 1-0 to the Phobians.

Reacting to the incident leading to the red card, Alagidede said on a normal day Philip will not do what he did.

“Philip is one of our most dependable center backs. Wearing the captain’s armband, I don’t know what really came over him because on a normal day Philip would not do that.

“I am a bit surprised he did something like that. In all even with ten men, we gave Hearts of Oak a good run for their money.”
