Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has raised questions over the purpose of newly introduced ABBA penalty format.
The new system, which aims to eliminate the advantage to first penalty-takers in the current system, follows the tie-breaker pattern from Tennis.
It was recently introduced by the FA in the Community Shield game between Chelsea and Arsenal on Sunday.
"I liked the format that we already had. It was very exciting, it was tense," Gerrard told BT Sport. "It does change the advantage, if you like.
"If you miss that first penalty - which is the advantage if you score it - and the other team scores their first two then 2-0 is a big advantage to the second team."
