Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is the first player to have successfully completed 1,000 passes in the Premier League this season, reaching and exceeding the four-figure milestone during Saturday's 0-0 draw against Southampton.
The occasional England skipper has led the division in passing all season and the game against the Saints saw hispassing tallyacross his 12 Premier League appearances hit 1,001.
Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is the second most prolific passer in England's top flight after nearly a third of the 2016/17 campaign has been completed. But the Brazilian trails Henderson by more 100 passes, with 890 to his name.
Leicester's Danny Drinkwater has successfully made 824 passes, while Manchester United's world record signing Paul Pogba has found team-mates on 786 occasions. N'Golo Kante (prior to Chelsea's Sunday clash with Middlesbrough) has made 729 passes to round off the top five.
Henderson struggled with injury during Jurgen Klopp's first season at Liverpool, his first as captain,and his patchy form and fitness had led many to doubt whether he could fill the massive leadership void left by Steven Gerrard's 2015 departure.
He's certainly not the same type of explosive player as the legendary former Anfield captain, but Henderson has slowly started to change opinions with his form in recent months.
Last month, Gerrard himself said, "People have got to judge Jordan Henderson for Jordan Henderson. What does he give to the team, what does he give to his team-mates around him?
"He really cares. He goes home and tries everything he can to be the best at what he does so he should be judged on what he brings to the team."
