Manchester City Newcomer Gives Frank Assessment of Notoriously Tough Premier League

Published on: 06 February 2017

There's a long-held, standard belief that any newcomers to the Premier League should be allowed at least one season to adjust to the rigours of the English game - having said that, every now and then, a player arrives on our shores who seems to adapt immediately.

Step forward Manchester City's new Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, who has taken matters to hitherto unheard oflevels; rather than needing a season to get used to things, he's needed a couple of games; and rather than finding things even remotely difficult, he's finding them quite the opposite.

As reported byPasionFootball, the starlet has exceeded all expectations - of both fans and the management alike. And given what the player himself said to ESPN Brazil, it seems even he is a little taken aback by his startling introduction to what is notoriously perceived as one of the world football's hardest competitions.

''I thought the Premier League would be more difficult,'' the player admitted.

At least he's honest. The attacker also revealed to ESPN the vital role his family has played in his development, alongside clarifying his main objectives for the upcoming months:

''I have a lot to improve. I fulfilled the dream of wearing this shirt and now I want to polish my weaknesses.''

Seeing what he's achieved in a month, it would take a very brave man to bet against Jesus reaching his goals.
