Michael Essien enjoying life in Azerbaijan; Says food in the country is very tasty

Ghanaian great Michael Essien has opened up on life in Azerbaijan while indicating that he is enjoying his stay especially the tasty food at their cuisines.

The former Black Stars midfield powerhouse joined Azerbaijani side Sabail FK back in 2018 after partying ways with Indonesian club Persib Bandung.

Reflecting on life in the country, Michael Essien has revealed that he got opposition feedback from friends prior to moving there.

“When I told my friends about Baku, they did not even know where the city was. But nothing prevented me from going to Azerbaijan”, the former Chelsea star told Russian media, Sportbox.

He further shared, “There is no traffic jam in Baku at all and I have something to compare. A few years ago I played in Indonesia, the traffic situation was 20 times worse. The cuisine in Azerbaijan is very tasty, but high in calories”.

Essien has built a good career at Sabail FK and was recently handed a contract as player-coach.
