Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell and his wife Alyshia are joining the family of Christian Atsu in mourning his passing.

The couple has been in Ghana for several days, meeting with locals and inspiring young athletes.

Former Newcastle and Chelsea winger, Atsu, passed away on February 18, 2023, in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that occurred in Turkey and Syria on February 6.

Powell and his wife visited Atsu's family home, where they signed the condolence book and expressed their condolences.

Atsu, who was 31 at the time of his death, played 65 times for Ghana's Black Stars and helped them reach the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final.

The earthquake has claimed the lives of over 50,000 people in Turkey and Syria, leaving several homeless.
